IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium was held in Melbourne, Australia, from 21 to 26 July 2013. With over 1,360 participants from 66 countries, 1025 oral papers and 448 poster presentations, it was an excellent occasion for knowledge exchange, the exploration and discussion of topics related to 'Building a Sustainable Earth through Remote Sensing'.

ST Electronics (Satcom & Sensor Systems) made its inaugural presence at the symposium as a sponsor, and introduced its space business as well as its first Singapore-made high resolution earth observation satellite, TeLEOS-1, which is scheduled to be launched in the 4th quarter of 2015.

GSTC 2013

Global Space & Technology Convention (GSTC2013) is Asia's Premier Space & Technology Event, providing a platform for latest technology in space engineering and design. Held in Singapore from 21 to 22 February, the GSTC's theme was “Rise of the Rest”. The keynote address was delivered by Mr Lee Fook Sun, President of ST Electronics. He announced that ST Electronics (Satellite Systems), a subsidiary of ST Electronics, had started the design and development of its first commercial remote sensing satellite. Named TeLEOS-1, this made-in-Singapore earth observation satellite is targeted to be launched into commercial service in 2015.
