Merlin Diamond Mine is one of the three diamond mines in Australia and the only one in the Northern Territory. It is renowned for its production of high quality and large diamonds. Borehole open pit mining is carried out at the Merlin Diamond Mine where a hydraulic water jetting tool is used to cut and break rock formations within the pit. The slurry is then transported out of the pit via a hydraulic lifting system.

Kisumu County is located in west Kenya and has a population of close to 1 million. The county is coasted by Lake Victoria which is known for being Africa’s largest lake by area. Kisumu County has a tropical climate that is brought upon mainly by the presence of Lake Victoria.

Standing at 3400m above sea level, Mount Wechacha is about 20km away from Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. At the foot of the mountain sits an indigenous forest known as Menagesha National Forest which covers a land area of 25km2.

Located in the basin of the Rancheria River, Cerrejón is a Colombian coal mine that lies near the border shared with Venezuela. The open pit mines covers almost 700 sq. km and is one of the largest of its kind.

TeLEOS-1 turns 1 today!


TeLEOS-1 was launched on 16 December 2015 at 8.30pm (Singapore time). The successful launch is Singapore’s first dedicated satellite launch with TeLEOS-1 as the primary satellite. With a high resolution of 1 metre and an average revisit time of 12 to 16 hours, TeLEOS-1 will enable decision makers and users convenient access to high temporal imagery and geospatial solutions to respond to time sensitive events, such as maritime security and safety, environmental and agriculture monitoring, and humanitarian aid and disaster relief around the equatorial belt.
