TeLEOS-1 turns 1 today!

TeLEOS-1 was launched on 16 December 2015 at 8.30pm (Singapore time). The successful launch is Singapore’s first dedicated satellite launch with TeLEOS-1 as the primary satellite. With a high resolution of 1 metre and an average revisit time of 12 to 16 hours, TeLEOS-1 will enable decision makers and users convenient access to high temporal imagery and geospatial solutions to respond to time sensitive events, such as maritime security and safety, environmental and agriculture monitoring, and humanitarian aid and disaster relief around the equatorial belt.

First Imagery from TeLEOS-1 Satellite

ST Electronics has unveiled the first imagery from TeLEOS-1 on 11 February 2016 at the Global Space and Technology Convention held at Sheraton Towers Singapore. TeLEOS-1 is Singapore’s first commercial Near-Equatorial Earth Observation satellite launched on 16 December 2015 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota, India.

TeLEOS-1 has a mean revisit time of 12 to 16 hours and its coverage of the equatorial belt includes many major shipping routes, disaster prone and forest fires regions. With its optical payload of down to one metre resolution, TeLEOS-1 can expediently contribute to highly-responsive applications in maritime security and safety, Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief and environmental activity verification.

IGARSS 2015

The International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium 2015 (IGARSS 2015) was held from 26 July to 31 July at the Convention Centre in Milan, Italy. The conference theme “Understanding the Earth for a Safer World” highlights the role of remote sensing for assessing, monitoring, and managing risks related to natural disasters. The technical programme included more than 2100 papers that were presented during oral and poster sessions. The conference was attended by over 2000 participants from 70 countries.

ST Electronics (Satcom & Sensor Systems) Pte Ltd participated in IGARSS 2015 as an exhibitor for the first time. With a focus on GeoServices under the AgilSpace brand, we showcased how we deliver multi-source imagery and value-added geospatial services from our TeLEOS-1 and our partners Satrec Initiative Imaging Services (SIIS) for KOMPSAT-2, -3 and -5 imagery and e-geos for COSMO-SkyMed constellation.
